Their wish list included a Quooker boiling water tap, a pull-out larder unit, a wine cooler and to create a separate utility room at the rear of the kitchen space.
The new utility room space was achieved by blocking off the existing dining table space with a partition wall and door. It was going to house a tall integrated freezer, an integrated washing machine, storage space and also hide away the gas meter & electrical consumer unit.
We followed the builders in and created the utility partition/door arrangement, modified the kitchen electrics and built a new ceiling with spotlights, before the installation of the new kitchen/utility.
The choice of painted ‘stone’ for the door colour was made to keep the general feel light and contrasted with the ‘metallic slate’ quartz. Sue & Darren wanted to create a natural divide between the kitchen and the new space, which we achieved with a raised rear side of the peninsular. The end of the peninsular was clad to the floor with the quartz worktop material, giving a definitive end to the kitchen space, into the dining area.
The final result is a new kitchen, dining and living space that makes the old living room completely redundant. The rear of the house is open, spacious, light and very social, completely transforming how Mr & Mrs Hanson live in a house they’ve had for years.
